As I rounded the corner, I saw a little truck labeled Fire Department. I flashed back to that embarrassing scene a year ago tomorrow:
I’m sitting on the toilet in a sports bra. The fireman storms in and starts asking questions. The others have already whisked the baby away. The horror of what has just happened made me delirious, and. . . embarrassed?
So I too was rushed to the hospital and saved from a possible placenta infection–or worse. . .
Today I kept barreling ahead–single-mindedly finishing my walk. . . then I saw the downed wire. I was determined to stay my course. I wasn’t quite sure what to do–how could I get around that wire? Then the fireman said, “You may wanna turn around.”
I thanked him. Not missing a beat, I turned around. What a good idea! It had never occurred to me. I wondered how the detour would affect my mileage. . . and I was grateful again for the ‘embarrassment’ of being rescued by a fireman.
