Turning 16 is a big hairy deal I guess. Other people thought so, too.

So Yanni got cake and presents on the actual day. Twice.

Then she got to go visiting in Wisconsin.

Then she had a birthday party yesterday. Since Yanni has collected friends from different places, she had a few icebreakers to start things out. Everyone was so punctual and polite, that we had 7 teenage girls sitting quietly on the floor playing the M & M game. That went for several rounds and then they commenced to having tea.

We used the tea kits that Curtis had bought for her birthday, and were able to serve two kinds of scones, the cinnamon honey, chocolate honey and lemon curd. She also served apples and grapes in cream cheese dip, cheese straws, two kinds of tea, and chicken tenders.

After tea, the girls played Taboo. They seemed to be getting on famously, but were so quiet it was hard tell. They had chocolate cupcakes after the game, and then opened presents.

Yanni invited everyone to play scene it on the X-box (360) as they were waiting for their rides.

As a bonus, Xay had gone over to friends’ house (brothers of one of Yanni’s guests), and the little children had gone to play with Rose and Laurel. All of the children returned home fed (AMEN).

Now I can catch my breath and have a birthday myself, another baby, and THEN Xay turns 13. Hopefully in that order.
