Spelling BeeImani, Joy, and Esteban, aka, The Babies, play with some children from across the street, Nate, Ellie, and Walter, aka Nate-n-Ellie. Walter, the youngest one of the entire group, doesn’t like the cold at all so all winter long he watches the rest of them play in the snow (when there was snow) from inside his house. So, by consequence, we hardly ever hear about him.

So when Esteban and Joy were drawing pictures and folding them, we had this exchange:

Dad: “Sooo, whatcha doin?”
Esteban: “We’re, uh, making… … uh… ”
Joy: “We’re making cards…”
Esteban: “Yeah, we’re making cards… for Nate.”
Joy: “We’re making cards for Nate *and* Ellie.”
Esteban: “Yeah, we’re making cards for Nate-n-Ellie.”
Joy: “This is Ellie’s and Esteban has Nate’s”
Dad: “What about a card for Walter?”
Joy: “Errr ummm…. hmmm… … I don’t know how to spell Walter.”
Esteban: “Me neither…”
