Last week at church I was moved to tears by the music. I didn’t like the music; I was just moved. This week at church, I liked the music. Didn’t she one tear. Any thoughts?
Imani has been getting 100% on her 100 fact sheets for weeks now. 100 fact sheets are worksheets of 100 addition or subtraction problems that she must complete in 5 minutes. She has gotten her time down to under 4 minutes. We cleaned off the kids’ computer desk this weekend, creating a new remote school work area. Imani eagerly sat there to do her fact sheet today. The timer went off, and she hadn’t finished it–for the first time since the first week of school! She blamed Chanya and Esteban for distracting her. Seems she was better off in my office with the door closed?
Joy has been struggling with her fact sheets this year. She must answer 25 math problems in 1 minute. She usually struggles when she learns a new fact. Today she learned the addition sums of 10 facts, something she struggled with last year. I feared she would have a hard time with her fact sheet. We have been studying math facts with flash cards and magnet numbers, going over the facts many times before she takes her fact sheet. Today, the text book suggested playing a card game to learn the 10 facts. I was doubtful, but we played 3 rounds of the game. It was fun. Then I gave Joy her fact sheet. She finished in a minute–with a perfect score! I wish I could find or make a game for every subject.
Because we must have our leaves bagged in ghastly biodegradable paper bags in our township, all the stores within our zip code have sold out of them. Just one zip code over, however, I found the bags at a much better price, and in abundant supply.
The little girls must wear their hair in a bun for both ballet and gymnastics. At ballet, they must not wear any fancy hair ornaments; the more invisible the better, so audiences can concentrate on their movement, not their faces. They also wear black leotards with pink tights and shoes. In gymnastics, the more glittery, the better! The leotards are either velvet or sequined, or both. The hair tie should also be glittery–the more bling, the better. Yet, you also want to concentrate on the gymnast’s movements. Any thoughts?
Anybody remember Arsenio Hall and his ‘things that make you go hmmm?’ Here’s my version.
