Sarah Ann and Billy

A few months ago, I blogged about Sarah Ann. When I last saw her, she was planning her wedding.

She and her husband (!) came through town Tuesday for a visit. They had just gotten their wedding pictures back and were very excited.

I didn’t view all 500 wedding pictures, but I did get a glimpse of the ceremony and the lead up to the main event. Sarah Ann wore ballet slippers under a beautiful white gown with long train. Her usually straight long hair was curled in ringlets. All her bridesmaids wore heels and formal long purple gowns. The effect was dramatic. The Bride looked impossibly petite–easily the smallest person in the wedding party.

Billy, who showed me the wedding pictures, while Sarah Ann shared honeymoon pictures with another friend, made a point of stopping at the kiss pictures. He reminded me that it was Sarah Ann’s first kiss ever. He was so proud. The pictures hid her face; I could see the grooms shoulders raised above his bride’s head. They didn’t capture the magic of the moment of a woman who saved her first kiss for her husband.

While we were alone for a minute, Sarah Ann told me how she had been writing letters to her future husband for a few years. How she had written them in 2 1/2 Hello Kitty journals up until her wedding day. She had hoped to read them to her husband during the honeymoon, but found it would take too long. So instead, she’s been reading them more slowly, over the two months of their marriage. They’re almost finished.

I can’t imagine how special that must be for Billy. But the way he bragged about how she’s made the house a home, and how he kissed her after I took this picture, I have an inkling.
