Guess what I ran out and bought today?

I can esplain….

The kids started swim lessons today, and Chanya couldn’t find her flip flops. The only fortnight of the whole year when I want her to wear flip flops, and she can only find one.

Her flip flops were old, dirty, and hand me downs, so I didn’t sweat it too much. I took her to Kohls and replaced them. With Crocs, no less–another shoe I had disdained in naivete. Because let me tell you, those are some substantial flip flops!

My shoes in that picture are an example of my fooling myself into believing that shoes without foam or a thong were not flip flops, but sandals. I ignored everyone who complimented me on my flip flops. Delusional, I considered them.

My *ahem* pool shoes are very comfortable and stylish when I pull them out every other week at the pool. Now I get to wear them every day the kids have swim lessons! Woo-hoo!

I can only say that because I refuse to consider them flip flops. Baby steps, people.
