Chanya laughs. I was *chewing* on her neck, and she just laughed about it. She did it twice.

Chanya rolls over! I was doing the 100 push-up challenge, and Chanya was on her belly opposite me. I was struggling with a push-up when I saw her out of the corner of my eye roll over. I looked up, and Chanya was lying on her back!

Chanya has her first breast milk only day since all the problems began. She also had a bowel movement!

Chanya rolls over from back to belly! She’s been working on this trick for some time now, never quite knowing what to do with her right arm. She figured it out tonight. Next step? Crawling!

Chanya creeps! I put her on the floor near the Kiana doll, and Chanya pushed herself and the doll across the floor. First she pushed against my hands, and then against the floor. She was really slobbering all over the doll’s face and hair too.

Chanya creeps forward! She has been scooting backwards for about a week, and today, she propelled herself forward. Granted, one arm is plastered underneath her body, but we’re literally talking baby steps here.

Chanya crawls. After rocking back and forth on her hands and knees, Chanya actually moved forward–to get a toy out of Joy’s hands. She can almost go from crawling to sitting position, but now she falls over when she’s almost there.

Chanya sits. She can now go from a crawling to a sitting position, and back.

Chanya claps! I did “the wheels on the bus” with the baby for the first time in weeks today, and she was clapping on her own later on. (Babies learn to clap doing ‘the doors on the bus. . . “)

Chanya stands by herself! It was brief, but beautiful. More to come soon, I hope.

Chanya says, “go!” I told Esteban to “GO” in putting on his pajamas, and Chanya copied me. Then she said it again on command.
January 2009
Chanya stands! She has been known to take a few steps too, but those are more the exception than the rule. Her balance standing up is getting much better, though, and she is good at cruising.

Chanya walks! I always knew babies move to get something they want. Chanya took three real steps (as opposed to her tentative 1/2 steps of the last few days), because she wanted to get to Esteban’s toy cars.

Chanya can walk and turn and almost run. Maureen came over today, (bringing Xay back from a couple nights at her house), and she convinced Chanya to walk to me several times. By bedtime, she was running to Yanni.

Chanya is talking. She says: up, eat, go out, daddy, mommy, and I swear she said, “pancake” on 8/9.
Late August-Early September 2009
Chanya sleeps through the night. If she eats enough for dinner, and has had enough nap time the day before, Chanya will sleep until 5 AM, when she wakes for a bottle. After the bottle, she may sleep until 6:30, 7 AM.

Chanya pees in the potty! Every evening when we go upstairs to brush teeth and get ready for bed–especially before bath time, we put Chanya on the potty after her diaper is off. Then I make the baby potty training noise, sssssss. Sometimes we’d take her down, and her butt would be wet, so we’d assume she’d pee. Tonight, as soon as she walked in the bathroom, she started making the sssssss sound, (as she’s been doing lately), and I put her on the potty. Esteban started talking about having to go to the bathroom, and while I thought about telling him to go to the other bathroom, we heard a tinkle sound in the toilet. Chanya peed! We were excited, and she was excited, and Curtis gave her a high five, and she ran around a minute with bare behind. We’ll keep playing this potty game and see where it leads.

Chanya Jumps! She’s been working on this one for a while, but now she can jump with both feet off the ground and land on her feet. This is the most advanced of all my children.

Chanya said, “Look! It’s a baby!” when she looked at a picture of herself.
